Comfort

This isn't a usual story about me.

This isn't a story about how I went through another traumatic event, faced the issues, had triumph and eventually found "comfort".

This actually isn't a story at all.

It's a request, a question, suggestion, and a call to action.

According to Oxford comfort is "a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint". Simple enough right. We all know what comfort means. But have we all thought about our level of comfort, what truly brings us comfort and what brings us out of it.

Today I want to tell you to find it. Find a state of physical ease. Most of the time when we think of physical unrest we think about physical harm done by someone else or may even some thing. How often have you been hurt, physically or figuratively. Immediately you arrive at a place of discomfort. And just like you knew exactly what comfort meant and felt like you were able to quickly switch into the state of discomfort.

"Or Constraint". I think most people would excuse the last two words of this definition, but I think they might be the most important.

Typically most peoples reaction to pain is to make sure that it isn't felt again. Meaning whatever administered the paid is the one thing that will never be approached again. Over, and over, and over again we make things our master and allow them to restrain us because we felt pain.

My encouragement is that our goal is and always should be to FIND comfort. That means to rid ourselves of these physical and figurative restraints. There is a difference between sitting idle and hoping and being proactive in finding comfort. I want you to find that difference. So GET UP! Today! NOW!

It's time to rid ourselves of the FEAR of pain, the FEAR of future hurt, the MEMORY of past pain. It's time to find comfort.

Because, the longer you are down the sooner your perspective changes.

So get up, before you get comfortable being down.
